Oolitic limestone is a carbonate rock formed from the cementation of thousands of ooids. Ooids are tiny nodules formed from the accumulation of carbonate material around a nucleus. When cemented together and lithified, these ooids can form rock. Oolitic limestone forms in reef or lagoon environments, and is useful in the classroom for lessons on sedimentary rocks. Each specimen is selected and hand processed by a geologist, ensuring each sample exhibits defining features. Set of 12 1inch samples.
