Recently, we visited the manufacturing site where our SLS Select Education branded chemicals are produced. It was a great chance to explore the expert processes and high standards involved in creating the products trusted in school science labs across the country. From strict quality control to responsible, sustainable practices, every step is designed to ensure the chemicals are safe, reliable, and ready for classroom use.
We began with a meeting discussing the needs of school science labs — covering everything from chemical uses in schools and package labelling to how we can make chemical handling easier and safer for technicians and teachers alike. It was a great chance to ensure that our range continues to meet the practical demands of school science labs across the country.
We then took a full tour of the production facility, where they manufacture over 3000 different products! We followed the entire journey of our chemicals — from the arrival of raw materials through precision blending, bottling, labelling, and finally, thorough quality control. The level of detail, cleanliness, and safety throughout the site was impressive and clearly reflected a strong commitment to manufacturing excellence.
What stood out most was the rigorous quality control processes in place at every stage of production. Each batch is carefully tested to ensure it meets strict specifications for accuracy and consistency — essential for the safe and effective delivery of practical science in schools. Just as importantly, the team behind the manufacturing shares our commitment to practical science education, understanding the importance of hands-on experiments to inspire the next generation of scientists!
The team are also passionate about sustainability. They are proudly powered by 100% renewable energy, and have made significant investments on equipment which allow them to save over 27,000 litres of water each year!
