How it started
Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) are the parent company of SLS Select Education and first began trading in 1991, since then we have grown to become the UK’s largest independent supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals and consumables.
SLS launched their own brand of equipment in 2001 after acquiring a plastic manufacturing company in the North-East of England. Our first products were petri dishes and plastic measuring cylinders – but now we have over 700 products in this money saving product range!
Why create our own brand of products?
As we have lots of market data on buying patterns and trends, we have a really good idea what products are popular, and what people really need. Our SLS Lab Basics product range is designed for schools, giving them best value for money products, with suitable
specifications and an affordable price. We work with over 400 suppliers at SLS, and over the years, have built some very close relationships. This has led to us partnering up to produce many of the products within our SLS Private Label. The SLS brands are SLS Lab Pro, SLS Select,SLS Lab Basics and SLS Flowgen.
What the SLS own brand products want to achieve
The idea of the SLS own brand products is to produce equipment similar in quality and specification to our premium lines but with a price point closer to our economy lines. If budget is tight, switching these own brand products could help your department, by making your money stretch further.
